Silkeborg 18 july - After the talent scouts of Globetrotters saw Renato Buan win a sprint in the Philippines they knew it. This was a rider who needed to be signed. He had great potential and Bjarne Skoftrud decided to train him. But his potential made him noticed by bigger teams. When thedutchies noticed his great abbilities they decided to bid on the rider. Although he was one of the teamleaders of Globetrotter they accepted the bid. Skofterud replied: "Riders with great talent are meant to ride in the bigger teams, so we decided in the benifit of Renato."
The 1 - Top Division is the next stop for Buan. he rider himself was very pleased to be signed by one of the best teams in the world. "As a youngster I was always dreaming of cometing in the biggest races. Now that I'm signed with thedutchies that dream came true." Buan said in not so fluent English.
When he first came to Europe he had some difficulties adjusting to his new surroundings. "First of all there was a languagebarrier I needed to handle. But the wife of teamleader Bjarne helped me out a lot. The first three weeks of my adventure in Norway she took me in her home and taught me. She also took care of me by buying lots of warm sweaters because the weather in Norway is terribly cold. She became sort of my Norway-mother. I will definitly miss her when I move to the Netherlands."
